Kenyan Artist Extraordinaire, Nina Ogot, to Perform at the Jambo Day

This year marks 55 years since Kenya got its independence and what better way to celebrate than by celebrating Kenya’s achievements, treasures, food and music?

The Treasures of Kenya Trust based in Nairobi and run by Hartmut Fiebig will be launching their German Verein by the same name at the event. The
Treasures of Kenya Trust was initially founded to identify, document and promote the popular and lesser known tourist attractions of Kenya in connection with the country’s 50th anniversary of independence as ‘The 50 Treasures of Kenya’ – a single Treasure for each year of independence.

However, the Trust has now grown to continue identifying, celebrating and sharing all the hidden gems in Kenya with others. In Germany, the Verein will work towards paint a more realistic image of Kenya and also facilitate conversations between Kenyans and Germans on Kenya’s cultural heritage.

The first step for the newly formed Verein is the Jambo Day, an event they hope to make an annual one. The event will work towards allowing attendees to experience Kenya for a day.

The event will kick-off with an opening ceremony with dignitaries from the city of Cologne followed by a Virtual Safari by photographer, author and  world traveller, Hartmut (Hardy) Fiebig.

Afterwards, a lively panel discussion will give various experts the opportunity to debate their views on the current development of the East African state. The unquestioned highlight of the event is a live concert by Kenyan singer Nina Ogot and a band of 8 musicians.

If you’re in Cologne, you can enjoy a virtual safari at the Jambo Day, to be held on December 1st from 2pm at the Urania Theatre in Cologne-Ehrenfeld. You can get your tickets here.
