Kenyan Woman Arrested for Attempted Murder in Heidelberg

A Kenyan lady was arrested in Heidelberg and charged for attempted murder after an altercation with an acquaintance in the city.

According to a joint press release by the Heidelberg Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Mannheim Police Headquarters, an arrest warrant was issued by the Heidelberg District Court against a 35-year-old Kenyan woman who is suspected of having injured a 36-year-old acquaintance with a cut on the neck on the evening of Saturday (August 22, 2020).

The two women who live in Heidelberg were visiting a mutual acquaintance when a dispute between the two broke out. After a heated exchange of words, the incident passed and the visit continued.

However, later in the night as the 36 year old was on her way out, presumably to go home, the suspect approached her with a broken beer bottle threatening to kill her.

In the subsequent scuffle, the accused inflicted a 10 cm long cut in the victim’s neck barely missing a critical artery (carotid artery).

The victim was rushed to hospital, where she was treated and sent home. The suspect, who was intoxicated at the time of the incident was arrested at the scene of the crime.

On Sunday, August 23rd, 2020, the investigating judge at the Heidelberg District Court issued an arrest warrant and the accused was then taken to a correctional facility.
