Outgoing German Ambassador to Kenya, Andreas Peschke.

A farewell luncheon was held yesterday, 30th June in celebration of the outgoing German Ambassador.

The German Ambassador, Andreas Peschke, was celebrated at an event hosted by Dr. Eng. Karanja Kibicho, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Kenya. The event was graced by other dignitaries and ambassadors including Christian Turner, the British High Commissioner to Kenya.

Andreas Pescke leaves the German Embassy in Nairobi after having worked tirelessly to strength the Kenya-German relations especially in regards to trade and development. The African studies graduate and Kiswahili scholar is a career diplomat having worked the German government for quite a while. He is best remembered as the Spokesman of the Federal Foreign Affairs Ministry (Auswärtiges Amt) in Berlin which was his last post before being transferred to Nairobi.

Amb. Peschke was posted to Nairobi in November 2013 after Amb. Margit Hellwig-Bötte’s tenure ended. His arrival in Nairobi wasn’t drama free after his visa issuance in Berlin was delayed only for him to wait close to three months before President Uhuru Kenyatta could accredit him. He will have served at the Embassy for 19months. (Read: German Ambassador to Kenya Revealed.)

This took place simultaneously with another luncheon hosted by KEPSA in celebration of the outgoing Danish Ambassador to Kenya, Geert Aa Andersen.

We wish Amb. Peschke all the best as he moves to a new station in life and definitely look forward to having him in Kenya again.
