Kenyan Acrobats Performing at the Apollo in Düsseldorf

The Apollo in Düsseldorf will be showcasing Kenyan acrobats as part of the “1001 Nacht in Marrakesch”.

The four acrobats:  Joel Wambugu Kyalo, Stephen Owino Otieno, Peter Macharia Wanjiku and Charles Kivogo Jandi; are part of the larger Nafsi Africa Acrobats based in Kawangware in Nairobi. The group who are passionate about music and art, all started performing while still in school, before they eventually joined the Nafsi Africa Acrobats.

Last year during a show in Berlin, an employee of the Apollo in Düsseldorf spotted the quartet and got them to join the  “1001 Nacht in Marrakesch” crew. The show has been showing in Düsseldorf since January and is set to run until mid April.

For Joel, Stephen, Peter and Charles, it is important to give back to the community, thus on their return to Kenya, they plan to visit less fortunate schools and hang out with kids in those schools, sharing with them their experiences and encouraging them.
