March has been a good month for Kenyan literature lovers in Germany, now you have a chance to catch renowned Kenyan writer and Caine Prize Nominee Billy Kahora in Cologne and Düsseldorf.
As part of the event series, “Caine Prize for African Writing zu Gast in Köln“, Kenyan writer and two-time Caine Prize Nominee, Billy Kahora will be visiting the Dome city this month.
Kahora will be reading from his story “The Gorilla’s Apprentice“, while Ann-Kathrin Kranz, a Masters student of Comparative Studies und Literaturübersetzen at the Heinrich-Heine Universität Düsseldorf, will read her German translation of the same book.
Kahora is a writer based in Nairobi and is currently the Managing Editor of Kwani?. He received commendation from the Caine Prize judges for his story Treadmill Love while his stories Urban Zoning (2012) and Gorilla’s Apprentice (2014) were shortlisted for the prize. Kahora also co-wrote the movies, Soul Boy and Nairobi Half Life.
