Kenyan Found Dead in Apartment in Potsdam

A Kenyan man was found dead in an apartment in Potsdam, the cause of death remains unknown but no foul play is suspected.

On Valentine’s Day, Newton Kariu was found dead in his apartment.On the day of his demise, he had spoken to his sister before he was found dead five hours later.

The 36 year old has been living in Potsdam since 2008 and had been unable to return home and visiting his family in Kenya. Kariu who was born on 26.04.1981 had sought asylum and his application process was still ongoing.

His family would like to repatriate his body back to Kenya and allow his mother to see him one last time as she gives him a proper send off. Family, friends and well wishers in Potsdam will be meeting on the 2.03.2018 for a memorial service and to view his body, the venue will be announced in due time.
