According to a report released by the Zentrums für Europäische Wirtschaftsforschung (ZEW), older people in some industries are more affected by lack of a set minimum wage than in others.
Those working in the hospitality industry are the worst affected with 23,5% of the people older than 55 years of age earn less than €8.50. In the Insurance and banking sector only 3.8% of those aged between 20 and 54 earn less than €8,50, no one in that industry older than 55 earns below the proposed minimum wage.
