Farewell Message from Amb. Ken Osinde as he Returns to Kenya

Ken Osinde

Dear Friends of Kenya,

Dear Compatriots,

I wish to inform you that my term as Ambassador has come to an end. For about four and a half years, I have had the honour of serving as the Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to the Federal Republic of Germany, Romania and Bulgaria. My time here has been filled with successes, challenges, and unforgettable memories that my family and I shall cherish for the rest of our lives.

I would like to extend my deep appreciation and heartfelt thanks for the warm reception and the support that I had received during my tenure from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. In particular, I would like to appreciate the Ministers and officials from the Foreign Office and the Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). One of the highlights of our cooperation that comes to my mind was the signing of the bilateral development agreement in which Germany gave Kenya tremendous increase in support on all the focal areas aligned to our country’s Vision 2030. Notable also are the numerous high level visitations of officials from both our countries, especially the visit of the Chancellor, H.E. Angela Merkel, to Kenya in 2011. Thank you.

To the German investors and our visitors, it has been a great privilege to engage with you in various forums. I would like to appreciate DIHK, Afrika-Verein, KfW, Severin Touristik and many other organizations that have partnered with us to further our mutual interests in both the commercial and tourism sectors. The launch of the single EAC tourism visa at the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin has promoted the varied landscape and species of the three East African countries, namely, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. I still urge investors and our visitors to seize the abundant investment and tourism opportunities available in Kenya and in the wider East African Region. Karibuni Kenya.

To my fellow Kenyans, the successful and well attended Diaspora conferences and meetings, most recent being in Frankfurt, were the highlights of our successful collaborations. I take this opportunity to thank you for the cooperation you extended to me and the Embassy in promoting Kenya in Germany and in our other countries of accreditation. I hope that you will also extend the same cooperation to my successor. I still urge you to always think Kenya, promote Kenya and invest in Kenya. Asanteni.

Finally, I wish to thank my colleagues in the Diplomatic Corps and the staff of the Kenya Embassy Berlin for their tremendous support.

Thank you all and may God bless you.

H.E. Ken Osinde

Ambassador
