Fourty-five Kenyan companies drawn from the hospitality and travel sectors are among the thousands of exhibitors across the world participating at the annual ITB Fair in Berlin, Germany.
The ITB Berlin, which is the largest global tourism fair officially kicked off on Wednesday the 5th of March and will run until Sunday, 9th. It will be open to the general public on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th March, 2014.
The Kenyan delegation comprises of government officials from the Kenya Tourism Board, Kenya Wildlife Service, Ministry of East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism, County Governments and from the Private Sector.
In a statement, Kenya Tourism Board managing director Muriithi Ndegwa said the delegation would leverage on Ms Nyong’os Oscar triumph to attract more international holidaymakers.
The KTB boss said Lupita’s film success as Best Supporting Actress had put Kenya on the world map giving the country’s destination an edge against its African competitors.
The ITB Fair comes at a time when Kenya’s tourism industry is on tremendous growth and increased confidence by investors in the sector. Several top global hotel chains and airlines have lined up to profit from this growing market demand.
The five-day event brings together all the players in the hospitality and travel industry to meet and discuss business opportunities. Equally, it is an opportunity for the general public to discover other travel destinations and the potential they offer from all the participating countries.
Germany is Kenya’s fourth tourist source market after the UK, the US and Italy.
