Programme Descriptio“research – educate – conserve” describes the sponsorship and activity focus of the Evonik Foundation, founded in 2003. The Evonik Foundation primarily sponsors doctorates as well as Diplom and Master theses. Both applicants from universities and universities of applied sciences are considered. Over 10 scholarship holders are supported financially every year


Target Group

The foundation awards sponsorships every year, particularly for academic research by doctoral candidates, postdocs and other academically qualified persons. Key sponsorship areas are fixed by the foundation every year. Information about these is provided here.

Academic Requirements
All applicants are required to be able to provide evidence of above-average aptitudes and achievements during their studies, giving reason to expect successful completion of the programme. Support therefore generally only begins after it has become possible to evaluate the applicant‘s achievements – usually after the Vordiplom stage or completion of a Bachelor‘s degree in the case of lengthy courses of study.

Duration
The duration and scope of the scholarships depends on the particular research project. The following is however normally the case

  • Diplom theses: 6 months
  • Doctorates: 1 year (option to extend)
  • Post-doc studies: 1 year

Scholarship Value
Diplom and Master thesis: 6 months, 250.00 to 400.00 EUR/month Semester abroad: 6 months, 400.00 to 600.00 EUR/month Doctorates: 2 years (option to extend), 1,050.00 EUR/month Postdoctoral studies: 1 year, 1,000.00 to 1,500.00 EUR/month

Application Requirements
Applicants are required to provide information about previous experience. A clear description of the topic, a detailed work plan and a letter of motivation are obligatory. A letter of recommendation from the supervising professor also has to be submitted. The subject area of research project also has to comply with the key sponsorship areas specified by the Evonik Foundation every year.
