The Bundestag put into law, a bill stating that the Einwohnermeldeamt should not share information they hold about people without explicit permission from the owner of the information.
The owner of the information may agree to allow the Einwohnermeldeamt to share their information or they can give their information to different companies themselves. The companies receiving this information should state clearly why they need that information.
This law comes in after some companies were found to use people’s names and addresses to send them bills they had nothing to do with. Some “charity” organizations went as far as even creating contracts with unknowing persons and using this to threaten for fund.
