Kenyan Azubi Encourages Single Parents With Young Children

Doing an Ausbildung can be complex, more so when children and changing shifts are involved. Is it possible to do an Ausbildung as a single parent with young children? 

 

I’m Joy Githara, 28yrs YOUNG and a Mom to a beautiful 5 year old daughter.

I came to Germany beginning of September 2006 as an Aupair. After my contract ended, I got married in 2008 and was blessed with my daughter the same year.

Life was not running smoothly especially in my marriage but one thing I had in mind was never to depend on someone to be happy.

Having seen my mother struggled and succeeded at raising my three siblings and myself after lost our dad in 1997, giving up wasn’t an option. She has been and will always be my role model.

I separated from the father of my child and moved to another city. God opened one door after the other.

I struggled to pay my driving licence and got it. My next dream was starting an Ausbildung as a Nurse but was always praying to God that I would be able to get a car before starting the Ausbildung.  With a child and the kind of job I wanted with different working hours I needed to be mobile. God answered my prayers and an year later I got an Ausbildung opportunity in Mülheim/Ruhr.

People used to tell me I wouldn’t make it as a single mom and still do an ausbildung but I can testify that God never blesses you with an opportunity that you can’t handle.

I’m currently in the 2nd year of my Ausbildung and God has been so Faithful to me and my Daughter.

Single mums out there HEAD HIGH and if you have a dream make it happen because where there is a will, there is a way.
