Nairobi Meets Berlin: Sitawa, Octopizzo and Others to Perform at the Spoken Wor:l:d Event in Berlin

Spoken Worlds Nairobi Berlin

This is the second part of an events series started in Nairobi, November last year.

The idea behind the event, is to give spoken word artists from the two cities a platform to share their work with the world. The literary exchange project involved 16 poets, rappers and spoken word artists from both Berlin and Nairobi. Titled, SPOKEN WOR:L:DS, this event is the first of its kind between the two countries and takes it impulses from Poetry, Spoken Word, Slam Poetry and Rap—art forms that mix literature, music, dance, and visual arts. The 16 SPOKEN WOR:L:DS artists shall select material from their counterparts across the seas to create new works in a translation that cuts across genre, language and technique.

The artists will be performing in Berlin for a whole week from 6th – 12th April 2014.

You can get in touch with them through their website, facebook or the Kwani? Trust.
