The Conference “Status Quo and Future Perspectives: German and African States in partnership for civic commitment” of the Partnership with Africa Foundation e.V. will take place in Berlin from 20th to 21st of June 2013. The conference is part of the “Africa Initiative” of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The organizers’ goal is to expand and renew German/African twinning structures at the federal level by the end of 2015. This activity aims at measurably increasing common and reciprocal commitment in civil society. Another aim is to help develop and spread contemporary and diverse images of respective living situations and realities. This will create a basis for partnering relationships between stakeholders in African countries and Germany.
The bedrock of the COMMIT programme is the involvement of a diverse set of civil society organizations in both Germany and in African countries. At the symposia held in Hamburg, Cologne and Leipzig in 2012 and a conference in Berlin in February 2013, German and African participants identified partnerships at the federal level as one area where action would be crucial.
