You’d think it is cliche to compare education to your income but not in Germany. Education remains the surest way to make money in Germany, you can try to wish it away but that is how this society functions.
The highest earning are those who graduate from Universities followed by those from Universities of Applied Sciences (FH) then the Abi, the Ausbildung and finally the other qualifications.
