A report released by the Free Press in Chemnitz, showed that more than 2.66million people in Germany were working 2 jobs in 2012. The report that was requested by Sabine Zimmermann (die Linke), shows that 9.1% of the employees in Germany took up second jobs. This number has doubled within the last 10yrs, in 2003 only 4.3% of the employees took up second jobs.
Some of those taking up second jobs remarked that they were not undertaking the jobs for pleasure but because their financial situations demanded it. It was also noted that though the reasons for a second job vary, for some it is due to bad financial management and a larger appetite for spending. Worth noting is that the buying habits increased in 2012.
This comes in after it was announced that inflation in Germany will increase to 1.9% this year.
