New German Ambassador to Kenya Presents Credentials in Nairobi

Amb. Annett Günther, the new German Ambassador to Kenya, Seychelles, Somalia and Permanent representative to UNEP and UN-Habitat.

The German Embassy in Nairobi has a new Ambassador. Annett Günther, a career diplomat presented her credentials earlier this week to President Uhuru Kenyatta. 

Amb. Annett Günther replaces Amb. Jutta Frasch, who served the mission from September 2015 until July 2018.

Ms. Günther studied English and Iranian Studies at the Humboldt-University in Berlin and the State University in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Her career started at the Humboldt University before moving to Teheran, where she worked as an intepreter 

She later joined the Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtigen Amt) in Bonn in 1991 for the Diplomats training then went ahead to hold various positions in various embassies and diplomatic institutions including the German embassies in New Zealand, Uzbekistan and Botswana.

Before her appointment to Nairobi, she held the position of a Commissioner for refugee and migration issues at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.
