Call For Applications for Bayer’s “Promoting Talents Across Borders” Programs

The international fellowship program of the Bayer Science & Education Foundation supports extraordinarily gifted talents in order to help them realise individual study and research projects abroad.

Applicants should demonstrate a pioneering spirit for science and society, above-average study grades, a high level of motivation and a compelling individual project idea. The scholarship can be used for special study courses, individual laboratory assignments, summer schools, research classes, internships, or Master’s or PhD theses.

Scholarships are granted exclusively to students from German-speaking countries wishing to study abroad, or to foreign students who are interested in a study project in Germany.

  • Otto Bayer Fellowship: biology and molecular biology, bioengineering, bioinformatics, chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutics, drug discovery
  • Carl Duisberg Fellowship: Human and veterinary medicine, Medicinal sciences, medical engineering, Public health, Health economics
  • Jeff Schell Fellowship: Agricultural sciences, agronomy, Crop protection, green biotechnology, environmental sciences, agricultural sustainability
  • Kurt Hansen Scholarship: STEM education / science teachers (biology and chemistry)
  • “Talents for Africa” : The program “Talents for Africa” is aimed at German students and young professionals with up to two years of work experience who would like to do a study project or gain practical work experience in Africa. It is also open to students in Africa who would like to study, research or complete an internship in Germany. Students and young professionals with credentials in the subjects listed above can apply.
  • Hermann Strenger Scholarship: Apprentices and young professionals in non-academic professions can apply for the Hermann Strenger Scholarship. Here, foreign assignments like projects, internships, supplemental courses or on-the-job assignments in the following fields are in focus:
    • Careers in healthcare
    • Technical or scientific occupations
    • Business administration

Application Requirements (in all programs):

  • Confirmation letter from host institute/university
  • A description of the project (duration of 2-12 months) with financial plan within the timeline of September 2016 to August 2017. The project can consist of
    special study courses, laboratory assignments, research projects, summer classes, internships, Master’s or PhD programs.
  • Most recent transcripts
  • Any additional documents that would enhance the application
  • Photo (passport or job application photo)

For the Hermann Strenger Scholarship, applicants must submit the following:

  • Confirmation letter from the foreign host institute/university on the planned project from September 2016 to August 2017
  • Most recent transcripts with good to excellent grades
  • A description of the project (duration of 2-12 months) with financial plan The project can consist of
    special study courses, laboratory assignments, research projects, summer classes or internships
  • Photo (passport or job application photo)

Applications can be generated from June 3rd, 2016 to July 18th, 2016.
