Collecting Views and Mapping of the Diaspora

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)

In February, 2015, the Government constituted a Task Force mandated to put the necessary framework in place to enable the Kenyan Diaspora to fully participate in future general elections and referenda.

To ensure that the views of the Kenyan Diaspora are considered in the final report, the Task Force requests for suggestions from the Diaspora through written submissions which should be sent directly to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade through the email address: diaspora@mfa.go.ke.

The suggestions are aimed at guiding policy and legislative changes that would eventually enable the Diaspora realize their Constitutional right. Further to this, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) would like to inform and encourage Kenyans to register with it through an online mapping tool

Mapping of Kenyan citizens residing outside Kenya for the purpose of Voter Registration & Voting

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) requires reliable baseline data to guide planning of voter registration and subsequent setting up of registration centers in the Diaspora. The Commission is constitutionally mandated to undertake Continuous Voter Registration (CVR). This mapping exercise therefore helps to ascertain the location of Kenyans around the globe.

The information you provide will be held in confidence by the Commission and will not in any way be shared with other parties.
