In case you might have missed it, the Kenyan Embassy earlier this year came up with a new requirement that everyone had to go and pick up their passports personally from the Embassy in Berlin. After a bit of noise from many of the Kenyans, they have now reviewed this and will now allow for courier dispatch of the passports. Below are the procedures and requirements for dispatch/pick-up of passports at the Embassy:

Contents

Courier Dispatch:

Applicants who wish to have their passports dispatched require the following:

1. To call or email the consular section at consular@kenyaembassyberlin.de or immigration2@kenyaembassyberlin.de 6-8 weeks after placing an application for a new passport to confirm if the passport has been issued. A notification may be sent in the event that it is issued earlier.

2. If the passport has been issued, one has to go to the nearest post office, buy a pre-paid DHL Courier envelope and send it together with the old passport (if applicable) by DHL. Passports are no longer sent as registered mail (Einschreiben) or normal mail.

Personal Pick-Up:

Applicants who wish to pick up their passports personally at the Embassy are required:

1. To call or email the consular section at consular@kenyaembassyberlin.de or immigration2@kenyaembassyberlin.de 6-8 weeks after placing an application for a new passport to confirm if the passport has been issued. A notification may be sent in the event that it is issued earlier.

2. If the passport is ready for collection, kindly inform the consular section when you wish to come and pick up the passport. Exact date and time is required to avoid any inconvenience to the applicant.

3. You MUST bring the old passport for cancellation (where applicable) in order for the new one to be released. No new passport shall be released unless an existing old passport is cancelled.

4. The new passport can only be picked up strictly during the office hours open to the public, i.e. Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 1.00pm. The Embassy is closed during public holidays for both Kenya and Germany.
