New Laws for Non-EU Au Pairs and Families

Come July this year and the laws will be changed for non-EU au pairs planning to come to Germany and for non-EU parents in Germany aiming to bring in non-EU au pairs. Below are what has changed:

Non-EU parents are allowed to bring in a non-EU au pair ONLY IF they use German at home. Couples aren’t allowed to bring in au pairs from their home countries.

Maximum age has been changed from 25 to 27 for non-EU au pairs.

Au pair visas will continue to be issued without any prior approval from the Bundes Agentur für Arbeit.

The new laws come to full force on 1st July 2013
