Scholarships at Darmstadt


Helmholtz Graduate School for Hadron and Ion Research offers an international scientific environment, with strong collaborations all over the world. Special programs and funding for travel are offered to each participant, which enables participants to strengthen and build collaborations with international top scientists. 
HGS-HIRe offers a structured PhD education in

  • Accelerator Physics
  • Biophysics
  • Material Science
In addition to the scientific education within the working groups of the university professors HGS-HIRe hosts regular scientific events like Lecture Weeks, Graduate Days, Journal Clubs, Seminars, Colloquia and Power Weeks. Several Soft Skill courses especially tailored for the needs of the participants of the program are offered on a yearly basis for all participants.

The programme starts at any time for a duration of 3 years. English is the Working Language.

Subject Requirements (Qualification)

All applicants are required to hold a Master Degree in Natural Sciences or an equivalent degree. The language of the school is English, thus a sufficient proficiency of English (oral, as well as written) is required to join the school.
